Switchboard isn't just great for collaborating with others. Have your own personal room can also help you stay on top of your most important tasks.
Most of us keep open multiple tools throughout the day- email, Notion, Jira, Asana, Google Docs, etc. We also pull up browser tabs for project research or industry news. This works well enough until disaster strikes. The sound of cooling fans working overtime starts a panicked search for tabs to close before the dreaded beachball begins spinning.
Personal rooms in Switchboard allow you to visually organize all the web apps you use without slowing down your computer.
We create a private room just for you when you join as a member of a workspace. You can personalize the room's background by opening the room settings in the bottom left of the screen.
Next think about how you want to use the space in you room. The center of the room is a great place to put browsers you check throughout the day- like email. From there, you can group together files and browsers related to your different tasks in each corner of the room or along the edges.
Your personal room is a great place to keep the sites you visit regularly or interesting articles to read later.
Need to work on two sites at the same time? Instead of toggling between tabs in your browser, open them both side by side in your Switchboard room. Size them however you like, zoom in/out, and easily pan between them.
You can also open Youtube or Spotify's web player in your room and pump up the jams.
