Supercharge your Slack workspace with the Switchboard app!
Once connected, you'll be able to create a dedicated Switchboard room for any Slack channel with the "/sb" command.
Commands:
/sb to create/open link to room
The first time this command is used in a channel or DM Switchboard will create a new room and add all of the members of that Slack channel to it. It will also add a bookmark to the room at the top of the Slack channel.
Using this command again will post a button to join the Switchboard room in the channel.
/sb [URL] to put a url in the room
Adding a url after (like "/sb google.com" or "/sb wikipedia.org") will open a new browser in that channel's Switchboard room with that URL.
/sb help displays a list of available commands
How to install:
(Admins only) Click on your workspace name or your avatar in the top left corner to go to Settings>Integration. Here you'll find the "+Connect" button next to start the install process with Slack.
Next is the screen to allow the connection between Slack and Switchboard.
After clicking allow, you'll choose which Switchboard workspace you want to connect.
Finally , you can authorize Slack to perform actions in Switchboard (like creating new rooms).
Success! Now you can start using the Slack app.
Authorizing
The first time they use the /sb
****command in Slack, each user gets a prompt to Authorize Slack to use Switchboard.
Private channels and DMs
While Switchboard's Slack App is not available in an exiting DM, you can invite the app to new DMs (as @switchboard.app) or private channels (using the /invite @switchboard.app command).
Disconnecting Slack
Disconnect button. Disconnect removes the data from Switchboard's side, but the Switchboard slack app must be uninstalled separately over in Slack.
